Outer Cape Surf
Classic New England surfcasting for striped bass along the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Depth & Structure
Open Atlantic surf along Cape Cod National Seashore: sand-bar systems and troughs off steep-faced beaches — at Marconi Beach (Wellfleet) deep water is close in and reachable with a shorter cast — while protected harbor-side spits nearby run only about 2-6 ft deep.
Best Lures
Poppers and pencil plugs on the surface, soft-plastic paddle tails, needlefish plugs, thin-profile metals and epoxy jigs (1-2 oz) for sand-eel feeding fish, shallow-diving minnow / swimmer plugs at dawn and dusk, and bucktail jigs worked near bottom in rips.
Best Baits

Gear to Bring
Surf rods 9-10 ft for most spots, 10-12 ft where casting distance is critical, with 4000-6000 size surf spinning reels and 20-30 lb braid class; lighter 7-8 ft medium tackle is a documented local option for light-tackle striper work.
