How fast is shipping, and what does it cost?
Standard shipping is $8 and free on orders over $70, with delivery in 5–8 business days. Express is $15. Full detail is on our Shipping & Dispatch SLA page — the timelines there are the ones we hold ourselves to.
How do I track my order?
The moment your label prints, you get an email with a live tracking link. That link is your tracker — it updates at every scan. You can also see every order any time on our Track Your Order page.
What if I want to return something?
Unused gear in its original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Line, baits, and terminal tackle must be unopened. If something arrives defective, that's on us — contact us first and we cover the return label. See Returns & Crash Replacement.
I broke my rod. Am I just out the money?
No. Any Backwater Outlaw rod, any accidental breakage — car door, tailgate, boot — is replaced at 50% off the current price of the same or closest model, once per rod. Order number plus a photo of the broken rod is the whole claim. Manufacturing defects are different: those are covered free under the Lifetime Blank Warranty.
Is your tungsten really lead-free?

What's the difference between 4X and 8X braid?
Both are braided PE line. 4X is woven from 4 strands — tough, a little thicker, great value. 8X uses 8 strands — rounder, smoother, casts farther and runs quieter through the guides. For heavy cover and grass, go up in pound test either way; the diameter and breaking strain for every spool are printed in its spec table.
I'm new to fishing. Where do I start?

Is checkout secure?
Yes. Checkout runs through Shopify's encrypted checkout with all major cards and Shop Pay. We never see or store your card number.
