Quabbin Reservoir
Massachusetts' largest inland water; produced the state record lake trout and walleye.

Depth & Structure
Average depth 51 ft, maximum 151 ft (Wikipedia). The western (Fishing Area 1) arm is extremely deep — up to about 150 ft, with shorelines plunging to 120 ft close in — while the northern/eastern water flattens to roughly 12-15 ft around stumps and wood for largemouth; smallmouth ledges and humps sit where deep water meets 6-20 ft shelves.
Best Lures
Jerkbaits, Ned rigs and drop shots along steep drops for smallmouth; flashy spoons jigged, trolled or cast for lake trout, plus deep-trolled spoons on downriggers / lead-core for salmon and lake trout in about 100 ft; deep-diving crankbaits on drop-offs for bass.
Best Baits
Live baitfish (which anglers must catch for their own use) trolled or cast for lake trout, and live yellow perch reported as a local tactic for bigger smallmouth.
Gear to Bring
Medium spinning tackle for smallmouth finesse work on drops; medium-heavy trolling rods with downrigger / lead-core outfits, 10-17 lb class line, for deep salmon and lake trout. Note rental boats have no electronics, so a portable sounder helps.
Local Tips
['Fishing is only in designated northern areas from three boat-launch areas, and private boats must be cleaned before launching to prevent invasive species (Wikipedia / DCR access rules).', 'In fall, lake trout return to 20-50 ft on rocky points, flats and…
