Toledo Bend Reservoir
The largest reservoir in the South and a perennial top-10 bass lake on the Texas-Louisiana line.

Depth & Structure
Large Sabine River reservoir — average depth 24 ft, maximum 110 ft (Wikipedia), with extensive standing/flooded timber and stumps (marked boat lanes exist because of the timber). Bass use 2-8 ft shallow bays in spring and retreat to channel ledges, timber and the main basin in 15-25 ft in summer.
Best Lures
Topwater, soft plastics and crankbaits over shallow grass/timber in spring; deep-diving crankbaits, Carolina rigs, Texas-rigged soft plastics and vertical jigging on ledges/timber in summer; lipless crankbaits over deeper grass and umbrella rigs in the cold-season transition.
Best Baits
artificials primary
Gear to Bring
Medium-heavy baitcasting tackle for timber/grass work with strong fluorocarbon (a Toledo Bend guide report cites 20 lb main line on a Carolina rig); a medium crankbait setup and a finesse spinning setup for deeper ledges.
